Hi Freedom Folks, One reminder and one call to action for you all. First: Flux Party registration with the VEC is almost due... and if like me your form is still sitting in an envelope, you'll be glad to know we can email a scanned copy of our forms to rppregistration(a)vec.vic.gov.au Second: We've been invited to propose a talk or workshop for the New Economy Network annual conference! https://www.neweconomy.org.au/conferences/2018-conference/ Be warned, even if we get accepted we've still got to pay registration :\ ... but if you're still keen I've started putting together a proposal here: https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/fsm-new-economy ... we need to have the proposal in by 1st June 2018 - and I'm planning on posting my submission the night before. Flux party software testing

Hi folks, I've just received a message from Andrew Heath who came along and talked about the Flux Party last month... They're looking for volunteers to get involved! Check out the message below and get in touch if interested. ~~ Ben Hi Mate - at the free software meetup there were a couple of people who discussed the opportunity to: #1 - stress test / hackathon the Flux app in due course and #2 - look at getting a uni software dev teem in place to help with the project, I'm now in the process of starting to work with the dev team more closely and wished to get back in touch with you guys about this. Can you help facilitate? I need to know what timeframes / expertise etc are potentially able to get involved in both areas... Jimmy Wales is a mad man. Not in the same vein as those that launch cars with dodgy power trains into space on a Rocket for marketing glory; but mad in that he decided to put his chips into crowd sourcing information at no cost. To trust in the community to make the most diverse and accurate encyclopedia than had ever been created. Wikipedia has proved that what sounds ‘pie-in-the-sky’ unlikely can sometimes work and produce the best results. They forked the idea of GNUpedia and made it happen. Now you can learn how to contribute to this great library. Ben Minerds will guide you on how to contribute to Wikipedia and improve it for all to use. With a brief introduction we might even have you contributing on the very night and grow this information community just a little bit more. Afterwards we will have the monthly Gnews followed by dinner in North Melbourne. This is a non-technical event and all are welcome to join in. Do note that we have adjusted our starting time due to Winter and the ever increasing Melbourne traffic.
