Thanks, that's great to know. For me, I'll prefer to wait for Cyanogenmod 9 to be stable and then install it on my galaxy S2. On 12 March 2012 23:00, < free-software-melb-request@lists.softwarefreedom.com.au> wrote:

Hello,
F-Droid is a great app repository. By the way did someone here tried to install CyanogenMod or Replicant OS? Is it as usable as android 2.3?
Please have a look at this page Free your Android https://fsfe.org/campaigns/android/liberate.en.html

Also try F-Droid, there is a bunch of relevant resources on the fsfe website. http://fsfe.org/campaigns/android/liberate.en.html
F-Droid does look good http://f-droid.org/
There seem to be a number of FOSS apps on the Google market not available here, might try and fix that...

I am running Cyanogenmod 7 on this phone. It works really well, I can't compare with stock Android 2.3 as I have never tried it.
The process of installing Cyanogenmod was painful and they had no docs for going from android 2.2. -- Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S Android phone with K-9 Mail.

Why wait? You really need to have your phone rooted right from the start. Without root access you can't do a full backup and therefore you don't want to do much with a phone before rooting it. So if you are rooting the phone then you might as well mod it at the same time. If nothing else the process of installing CGM 9 over CGM 7 is probably going to be better supported than installing CGM 9 over whatever your S2 currently has. -- My Main Blog http://etbe.coker.com.au/ My Documents Blog http://doc.coker.com.au/
Hello, I am currently in the process to reinstall my Galaxy S2 with Cyanogenmod 7 but I got a little problem. I cannot download the file cm_galaxys2_full-116.zip from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_galaxys2_full-116.zip because of the following message : The website you are trying to access is currently offline. The most likely causes are the server is down for maintenance, there may be a network problem, or the site may be experiencing excessive load. Does anyone have this file and can send it to my through a sharing website or a server? cm_galaxys2_full-116.zip md5sum: f489da0398332a44487d515af5c48161 100.15 MB 2011-11-16 13:44:43 I already flashed my phone with android 2.3.6 and rooted it succesfully with heimdall on Ubuntu. But I don't want to use it until I've installed Cyanogenmod 7. I already have the update file 7.1 and 7.2 RC. But without the full.zip there are of no use as the phone is blocked in a loop of booting and rebooting again. Thanks. Jean On 12 March 2012 13:20, Russell Coker <russell@coker.com.au> wrote:
