Free Software discussion group this Thursday 18 October
Hi Folks, October already! Wow, this month has certainly crept up on me. I'm looking forward to another Free Software Melbourne discussion group and dinner this Thursday, same time same place. Hope to see you there! That was careless of me. As you can probably guess, this should say 18 October. :)

No worries. Try to see you there (but will probably be a bit late as usual). If you have an actual MediaGoblin server configured, it would probably be neat to demo it. Might also be an opportunity to talk about/demo StatusNet, XMPP and any other free federated services we can think of, time permitting. I notice that the announce mail list doesn't appear to have been configured to allow detached signatures. Not sure if this was on purpose or an oversight? Speaking of which, I reckon some group GPG key signing would be a neat activity at some point. Cheers, Adam
I can't make it, but media goblin looks pretty cool. There are some instances on line. Bianca - on my phone, please excuse my brevity.

Sure, I'm running a personal site with MediaGoblin from a few versions back running, but I'll try to get and up-to-date version to show off the newer features. Free federated services sounds like a great topic to discuss. I'll hassle you more about this off-list.

As discussed offline, the "<#secure method=pgpmime mode=sign>" at the bottom of the announcement was just my failed attempt to sign the mail in Emacs.

That's a great idea too. Let's do that next month. Ben

I'm on leave this week but planning to come in for it. I'll be eating before the meeting so if anyone fancies meeting at Big Mama's Korean Restaurant around the corner from VPAC on Swanston Street at about 5:15pm (Metro Trains permitting) they'd be more than welcome. cheers!
