I came across that a while ago: http://www.viewizard.com/ http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/ http://www.rigsofrods.com/content/ Latter is not a game but a simulator. Sven
Hi Folks, Just a quick reminder that our free software games night is tomorrow night at 6pm. Alex Fraser has been working very hard on his own free software game, Cargo. Development is currently top secret, but he's nearing a release. I'm hoping he'll be able to give us a sneak-peek. The Liberated Pixel Cup have also just announced their winners. We'll hopefully try out these games too. http://www.freesoftware.asn.au/melb/ Look forward to seeing you! Regards, Ben

Sorry folks, having just moved house things are more than a little busy so I won't be able to make it I'm afraid (even though I finally have a laptop I could use for games!). Have fun all, Chris -- Chris Samuel : http://www.csamuel.org/ : Melbourne, VIC
Can't wait to see Cargo. I haven't seen any updates since the public demo which would have been about two years ago. (Unfortunately I won't be able to make the meeting owing to my being stranded in Sydney, but I assume I'll get to play it at some point.) I probably won't be coming. I just got tennis elbow again, so won't be able to play anything involving my right hand. On 20 Feb 2013 17:56, "Matt Giuca" <matt.giuca@gmail.com> wrote:

Bianca: Maybe brain-wave-controlled virtual tennis? Seriously, I hope your elbow's better soon. Maybe just come along as a spectator. Being not much of a gamer myself, that's most likely what I'll be doing. Matt: What's the ping time to Sydney? If we do some network games, maybe Matt can still play. -- Smiles, Les.

Thanks, Ben S. I've just finished hosting this week's Byte Into It on 3RRR, and was able to spruik Free software Melbourne by saying we'd likely be playing (and certainly talking about) the Liberated Pixel Cup games at tomorrow night's meeting. Hopefully we'll get some newcomers from that :-) -- \ “If sharing a thing in no way diminishes it, it is not rightly | `\ owned if it is not shared.” —Saint Augustine | _o__) | Ben Finney

We're here now at the FSM Games Night, and Ian Wadham is demonstrating some of the KDE games he has developed and maintains. His interest was sparked by classic computer games like Lode Runner which come with their own level editor, encouraging the user to become a content creator too. This is what free software is all about – removing the artificial barrier between consumers and creators. We *are* the content industry! :-) -- \ “Science doesn't work by vote and it doesn't work by | `\ authority.” —Richard Dawkins, _Big Mistake_ (The Guardian, | _o__) 2006-12-27) | Ben Finney
