No FSM meet-up in September, SFD instead
Hi all, I've got some bad news, and some good news. The bad news: There won't be any Free Software Melbourne meet-up this month. The good news: Instead, we'll be busy preparing for Software Freedom Day! This is on Saturday, 21 September, 09:30-17:00, at the Melbourne Unitarian Church hall in East Melbourne. More details on this event can be found in the following links: http://luv.asn.au/2013/09/21 http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/2013/Australia/Victoria/Melbourne/SFD It should be an exciting day, so I hope you all can make it! There has also been the suggestion of perhaps doing an informal hacking day to celebrate GNU's 30th birthday. Stay tuned to the free-software-melb mailing list if this interests you, and feel free to suggest a venue if anyone has any ideas. https://www.gnu.org/gnu30/ Cheers, Adam

Sadly I'll be unable to attend. I'm recuperating from a fall from my pushbike (doing well, thanks for everyone's well-wishes). I'm on analgesics that are working but cause me to get tired quickly. Hope it's a great day — looking forward to reports and photos! -- \ “I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I | `\ prayed with my legs.” —Frederick Douglass, escaped slave | _o__) | Ben Finney
Would someone like to write an article on SFD or any other relevant topics for the Linux Australia newsletter? Details of our newsletter here: http://lists.linux.org.au/pipermail/linux-aus/2013-September/020834.html Cheers, Bianca
