I'll note that Debian and derivatives use the ‘reportbug’ tool, which allows sending an appreciative note instead of a bug report:
-k, --kudos Send appreciative email to the recorded maintainer address, rather than filing a bug report.
This is a lot of fun! I have today sent five love letters to Debian package maintainers of software that I particularly love, using ‘reportbug --kudos nameofthepackage’, and it's great putting into words why I love the work of these free software maintainers. I recommend everyone send a bunch of love letters today, whether with the above tool or something else, directly to someone who puts their love into free software.
